We got up, had yet another great breakfast, then lounged around while the BnB owners tried to catch Kai the Rooster. It was quite amusing.
Russ was anxious to visit a new-to-us Red Beach so we got in the car, cracked open the Blue Book and went on our way. Soon we arrived in Hana town and worked our way to the parking area. The trail down to the red beach was steep and tricky but we made it. At first we were the only ones there, but within an hour another dozen had arrived. It is billed as a "clothing optional" beach but only one person was so inclined.
The beach was a nice little cove with a line of huge rocks separating the cove from the huge, pounding open ocean waves just a few feet away. The beach was..reddish..but not what we were expecting. The water was brisk, but great. Damian and Russ swam a bit...Garry scowled at the water. Then we spent some time sunning.

Eventually, we braved the path back to the car and went to a little snack stand for a lunch. Then we visited the other red sand beach. It's sort of a traditional pilgrimage for Russ and me. This is a petite little beach that changes every time we visit. The sand is very, very red. The water was quite rough and large so we didn't try to swim. We took some pictures then scrambled away.

Next stop was the Venus Pools. Sadly, the water wasn't running very well and the pools (of which there was only one) was pretty stale. But the ocean just on the other side pumped in a bit of water to keep things, er, sort of fresh. There were a couple of goons there doing trick dives from the cliff. So, nothing would do except that Russ had to jump from the cliff as well. It's 20-25 feet up. He jumped several times (I forbade him to try anything fancy.)

Back at the room, Kai seemed to be gone. Russ began his traditional "Oops I bought too much food so now we have to eat it all in one meal" meal. Tonight was spaghetti (yummy) with all sorts of extras. Garry took some more pictures from around the place, then used the outdoor facilites to clean up.

Then it was time to pack up all the clothes into the luggage, charge up the batteries in all the electronics, and prepare to depart. Tomorrow we leave early, drive to Kihei (no Little Beach, tho), reclaim Russ's wad of cash, then catch the plane to Honolulu...then to Oakland, CA.
