Waterfalls and Beaches and Sunshine...Oh My!


Today we slept in a bit, then headed down past Luhie and visited one of our favorite spots, the Kipu waterfall.

But first, it was another stop at CostCo!  Yes...three days on the island and it's been three stops at CostCo and two at WalMart!

Lunch is a big hot dog and soda for $1.50!

Then....the waterfall.  We call it the "Indiana Jones Waterfall" because--according to the book we read--it's the waterfall that--in one of the movies--Indy jumped from when he dashed from a cave and/or was chased by those evil pygmies, or something.  (I really need to rewatch the movies and find the actual scene.)

Anyway, we parked along the road, walked along an overgrown path...

...and came to the waterfall.

Then...we jumped.  I'm surprised we didn't have to break through the top coating of ice in order to get to the water!  But we jumped. And jumped.  We swung from the rope swing...we jumped from the top of the waterfall.  Some of us fell into the water while crossing the stream.  We jumped and jumped and jumped.  And the water was freezing cold!

After an hour or so we were done and then we went to the beach where we just splashed in the surf and sprawled out on the sand and just soaked in the sun.

Then we were done and headed back to the resort.  Damian, Garry, and Mom Edna soaked in the hot tub while Russ made an amazing dinner.

Then it was time to process pictures, write the blog, and go to bed.  Tomorrow is an early day.
