Today was our first day on the Big Island. We started it in a grand style--Russ and Damian trudged up the hill to sit down for a Resort Owners Meeting! Hooray! Fortunately, the representative we met with was Melanie...one of our favorites! We met with her last time The Three of We were here and she was intrigued and delighted with our "expanded" family operation! When Russ and I showed up and she saw us, her first question was: "Where's Garry!?" What a doll!
While we were there chatting and drinking coffee, we got a visit from one of the geckos who checked out my coffee cup....
Done with that, we jumped in the van--Mom and Dad on the motorcycle--and headed to "the end of the road." Really...the road just ends up north. It's beautiful place: windy, green, ocean waves, towering cliffs...
Mom Edna petrified of heights and holding on to Garry for security...
Then we drove up to the little town high in the mountain for lunch. Russ chose: Korean! Not exactly Dad Garry and Mom Lisa's palettes, but they gamely ordered new dishes and gave them a try. I had this amazing bowl of really hot soup!
When the red sauce eats into the sides of the bowl...it's hot!
We stopped to gas up the motorcycle then headed back home...
Up top, the country is completely different.
And then we had to make an emergency rainbow stop.
We were just driving along in the drizzly rain when someone looked over and said, "Wow! Look at that!" Many vehicles pulled over to take pictures. I looked in the rearview mirror for the motorcycle only to find that they had stopped some ways back for their own photos!
There are two rainbows there if you can see them. Not only that...look and you can see where the ends are touching the ground. Not only that, but it was so close that you could see plants on the other side of the rainbow colored by the colored stripes! It was crazy magical.
Then we worked our way back home, shopped for groceries, came home for an exhausted dinner, and fell into bed.
Then Russ and I got out of bed because tomorrow morning, we have to move to a new room. But we don't get to in the morning....no. We have to move out, put our things in storage (including a refrigerator full of food), and wait until the "new" room is ready in the afternoon to move back in! So...while everyone else was sleeping, Russ and Damian packed groceries and clothing, moved it down to the lobby's storage and got ready for that whole ordeal.
Finally, about 1am, we slept.
ALOHA!
