Today was waterfall day on the Big Island! We got up nice and early, had breakfast, then decided to take a picture of the door to our bungalow. Each door is hand-carved with different scenes and is therefore unique!
We then climbed in the van (and on motorcycle) and headed back across the Saddle to the Hilo side of the island. Dad Garry and Mom Lisa followed on the motorcycle. Russell hung out the passenger-side window to take pictures of them.
It was a lengthy drive, but we made it! Our first stop was at the roadside near Umauma Falls. Many pictures were taken.
Then we headed on to Akaka Falls park. Many more pictures were taken...
Then, realizing it was an equally long drive back to Kona, we mounted up and headed back across the Saddle. Where...the weather hit us! Rain, fog, cold... Here's Garry's folks on the bike (yes, Russell hanging out the window again!) Garry's dad says, "It was cold! My goosebumps were stacked on top of each other!"
Russ cooked up a great dinner and we all dropped into bed, knowing that tomorrow, we were headed back across the island for Volcano day!
ALOHA!
